Career

On March 4, 1971, he competed against Hiroshi Kobayashi for the WBA World Championship and failed unanimously on points over 15 rounds. On October 10 of the same year he boxed against Yoshiaki Numata for the WBC World Championship and won by classic knockout in round 10. He defended this title four times in a row, against Jose Isaac Marin , William Martinez , Susumu Okabe and Apollo Yoshio .

In May and July of 1973, he suffered two point defeats. In these fights, however, the title was not at stake, which is why he kept it.
