Riccardo Tisci (born August 8, 1974 in Taranto , Apulia , Italy ) is an Italian fashion designer .

Life

Tisci grew up with eight siblings in Cermenate near Como in northern Italy and moved to London at the age of 17 , where he graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 1999 . In the following years he worked for various companies like Puma before he worked for the Italian company Ruffo Research for three years . In July 2004 he started his own company, the collection of which was shown at the Milan Fashion Week 2005/2006. From 2005 to the beginning of 2017 he was creative director at Givenchy , where he was responsible for all collections including haute couture . A move to Versace was suspected by the press in spring 2017, but ultimately not confirmed. In early 2018, Tisci was confirmed as Burberry's creative director .

Since 2008 Tisci has designed, among other things, the costumes of the American singer Madonna . In the same year he designed an issue for A Magazine , followed in 2011 by an issue of Visionaire . For the singers Kanye West and Jay-Z he designed the cover for Watch the Throne as well as for the label GOOD Music and their album Cruel Summer . Kim Kardashian got married in 2014 in a Givenchy wedding dress designed by Tisci. Tisci has been cooperating with Nike since 2014 and has so far designed several sneaker models and clothing.

Since his time before Givenchy, Tisci has been friends with the Italian model Mariacarla Boscono , who can often be seen in his campaigns. In 2013 he created the costumes for a ballet performance of the Boléro by Maurice Ravel at the Paris Opéra Garnier in collaboration with the Serbian artist Marina Abramović , which was staged by the Belgian choreographers Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Damien Jalet .
