Richard Balder , actually Richard Busolt ( July 22, 1867 in Königsberg - 1917 in Erlangen ) was a German theater actor , director and artistic director .

Life

After studying law in Berlin and Leipzig, Balder, the son of a manorial estate owner, decided to take up the acting profession in 1899 and began at the Stadttheater in Hamburg, where he stayed for a year. He worked there until 1890, then came to Detmold , 1891 to Barmen-Elberfeld, in 1894 to the City Theater in Breslau and in 1895 to Prague . There he appeared in public for the last time in May 1896 in the drama "Glück", after which he took over the theater management in Elberfeld. In 1900 he was appointed head of the Riga City Theater , where he was also in charge of the overall direction . He attached particular importance to Wagner and Shakespeare performances. In 1914 he was director of the State Theater in Nuremberg .

He died in Erlangen in March 1917 .
