Richard Baumann (mathematician)

Richard Baumann (born October 4, 1921 in Munich ; † March 9, 2009 ) was a German mathematician and computer scientist .

Baumann was born as the son of the engineer Karl Baumann and Maria Baumann, geb. Zehetmaier, born. After studying mathematics and physics, he initially worked as a high school teacher. Later he turned to science and research. The focus of his scientific work was process control and its automation.

After his habilitation, he worked as a private lecturer at the Technical University of Munich from 1966 and later took over the chair of mathematics. From 1974 to 1976 he was Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics.
