Richard Dempsey (born May 16, 1974 in Hertfordshire , England ) is an English stage and film actor .

biography

Richard Dempsey played his first role at the age of 14 as Peter Pevensie , one of the lead roles in the first 1988 BBC film adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia . He first appeared on the stage at the age of 17 as Jack in the London production of the award-winning musical Into the woods by Stephen Sondheim . He also played the role of Nick Piazza in the famous West End musical fame in 1995/96 and the ugly duckling Ugly in the musical Honk! . Since the 1990s he has impersonated many roles in film, television and on stage (e.g. with the Royal Shakespeare Company ). In 2007 he played Neil Kellerman in the stage adaptation of the film Dirty Dancing by Eleanor Bergstein at the Aldwych Theater in London's West End. That year he played in the play Chatroom / Citizenship , which appeared on various stages in England and Wales and was performed from November 20, 2007 to January 2, 2008 at the National Theater in London . After taking part in a workshop for the new musical Up The Junction , based on the songs of the band Squeeze and developed by the Really Useful Group , Dempsey is currently on tour with The One Hour Dream directed by Edward Hall .

Richard Dempsey's voice can be heard on the original recordings of the musicals Into the woods , Fame , Honk! , Just So and Dirty Dancing ; also on the CD Weird and Wonderful by Alexander S. Bermange .
