Richard Distler

Richard Distler (* 1946 in Röckersbühl , today the municipality of Berngau ) is a German clergyman and songwriter.

Life

Richard Distler studied in Eichstatt , Tübingen and Regensburg theology and three semesters astrophysics and nuclear physics and was on 18 June 1972 at the Ingolstadt Munster for ordained priests . The primary saying was “We are not masters of your faith, but servants of your joy!”. His older brother Michael (1941–2012) was also a priest and director of studies. After that he was chaplain for two years and then became director of the St. Richard study seminar in Eichstätt. In 1980 he took over the parish of Hitzhofen and in 1984 Hofstetten as well . In 1989 he became pastor in the court church in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz and in 1993 dean of the deanery Neumarkt in Oberpfalz . He was a member of the Episcopal Ecumenical Commission and the Liturgical Commission of the diocese. In November 2008 he was received by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed chaplain to His Holiness . In 2017 he retired, which he is spending in Meckenhausen . On December 21, 2017 he was made an honorary citizen of the large district town of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate.

In 2008 he wrote verses two and three for the song Gruß dir Sankt Paulus .
