Richard Michael Fraser, Baron Fraser of Kilmorack Kt CBE (born October 28, 1915 in Aberdeen - † July 1, 1996 ) was a British Conservative Party politician who was Deputy Executive Chairman of the Conservative Party between 1964 and 1975 and was a Life Peer in 1974 became a member of the House of Lords under the Life Peerages Act 1958 .

Life

Fraser graduated from the Grammar School in Aberdeen . He began his military service in the Royal Artillery after the beginning of World War II in 1939 and was promoted to second lieutenant on December 16, 1939 . On April 10, 1945 he was appointed captain to the Order of the British Empire (MBE) and was promoted to lieutenant colonel.

After retiring from military service, he was employed in the research department of the Conservative Party ( Conservative Research Department ) in 1946 and was last director of this department between 1959 and 1964. During this time he was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his political merits on January 1, 1955 and knighted bachelor's degree on February 16, 1962 , so that from then on he carried the suffix "Sir".

He then became Deputy Executive Chairman of the Conservative Party ( Deputy Chair of the Conservative Party ) in 1964 and held this position until 1975. As such, he represented the then acting Executive Party Chairs John Hare, 1st Viscount Blakenham , Edward du Cann , Anthony Barber , Peter Thomas , Peter Carington, 6th Baron Carrington and William Whitelaw .

At the same time he was between 1964 and 1970 secretary of the advisory committee of the chairman of the Conservative Party ( Conservative Leader's Consultative Committee ) and in this function belonged to the shadow cabinet of the then party leaders Alec Douglas-Home and Edward Heath .

Subsequently, he was from 1970 to 1975 deputy chairman of the Political Consultative Committee of the conservative Tories ( Conservative Party's Advisory Committee on Policy ) and from 1974 to 1975 in the shadow cabinet of Edward Heath again secretary of the Advisory Committee of the chairman of the Conservative Party.

By a Letters Patent of 11 June 1974 Fraser as a life peer with the title Baron Fraser of Kilmorack , of Rubislaw in the County of the City of Aberdeen, in the peerage collected and was until his death the House of Lords as a member of .
