Richard John (born June 21, 1896 in Wilhelmshaven ; † February 19, 1965 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) was a German officer , most recently Lieutenant General in World War II .

Life

John served as an officer in the First World War . In the Wehrmacht he rose to lieutenant colonel in 1938. During the Second World War he led the 292nd Infantry Division on the Eastern Front as commander . He was in captivity from May 1945 to June 1947.
