Richard Kenneth Brummitt

Richard Kenneth "Dick" Brummitt (born May 22, 1937 in Liverpool ; † September 18, 2013 ) was a British botanist . His botanical author abbreviation is " Brummitt ".

Live and act

Brummitt worked on the herbarium at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew . The focus of his work included the flora Zambesiaca , the African representatives of the legumes (Fabaceae), the plant genus of the bindweed ( Calystegia ) and the botanical nomenclature in general. His standard work on the botanical nomenclature Authors of Plant Names , published in 1992 together with C. Emma Powell , has also been listed as the International Plant Names Index (IPNI) database at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew since 1998 .
