Richard J. Machowicz

Richard John "Mack" Machowicz (born May 30, 1965 in Detroit , Michigan , † January 2, 2017 in Pearland , Texas ) was an American television presenter. He hosted the on the Discovery Channel current program FutureWeapons .

Life

According to his biography published by the Discovery Channel , Richard Machowicz served in various departments of the US Navy Seals from 1984 to 1994 and took part in numerous exercises. Among other things, he was there sniper and hand-to-hand combat instructor. He had experience in the martial arts Muay Thai , Jeet Kune Do , Kickboxing , Aikido , Jiu Jitsu , Savate , Arnis and Karate .

After serving as the Navy Seal, he worked as a bodyguard and martial arts instructor. Then he founded the Bukido Institute in California and invented the Bukido Training System . On the one hand, Bukido is a martial art that is limited to a few, effective self-defense moves ( "no fancy stuff" ), and on the other hand, it is a performance philosophy that aims to help overcome "doubt, stress, pain, slackness and fear".

In 2002 Richard Machowicz wrote a book, Unleash the Warrior Within , subtitled Develop the Focus, Discipline, Confidence and Courage You Need to Achieve Unlimited Goals . The basic idea of ​​the book is to see life as a fight, and to use the tactics and rules of survival of a warrior to survive this fight. As examples, he cites experiences from his time as Navy Seal, as well as experiences with his Bukido students.

In the TV show Future Weapons , which was broadcast on the Discovery Channel , he went in search of the weapons of the future. This search mostly led him to the testing grounds of the various weapons manufacturers in the USA; but sometimes also to Europe and Israel. There he had the engineers explain a new weapon system for their company to him and tried it out himself in a “Future Weapons Test”.

In October 2015 Machowicz was diagnosed with a fourth degree brain tumor, to which he succumbed on January 2, 2017.
