Richard Rebmann

Richard Rebmann (born May 20, 1958 in Tübingen ) is a German publisher and was Chairman of the Management Board of Südwestdeutsche Medien Holding GmbH (SWMH) until his retirement at the end of June 2018 .

After graduating from high school and doing military service, he studied law in Heidelberg from 1979 . In 1984 he passed the first state examination in law and, following a legal clerkship in the higher regional court district of Stuttgart, he passed the second state examination in 1987 with a subsequent doctorate on the revisibility of violations of thought and experience in criminal proceedings . Until 1988 he worked as an assistant to the management at Mannheimer Morgen . In 1989 he switched to the family business, the Schwarzwälder Bote GmbH & Co. KG group of companies in Oberndorf am Neckarand is initially responsible for the areas of personnel, law and editing. In 1991 he joined the management, for which he was solely responsible from 1993.

Since 1993 he has played a key role in developing the Schwarzwälder Boten group of companies into a media company. To this end, the group of companies acquired stakes in regional newspapers, such as B. The Oberbadische (Lörrach) and the Lahrer Zeitung and expanded the business spectrum to include direct household advertising, multimedia and Internet services, call center activities, the expansion of the Southwest printing center and building and property services.

At the end of 2007, the family holding Schwarzwälder Bode GmbH & Co. KG brought its stake in the Schwarzwälder Bote Mediengesellschaft mbH (SMB) to the newly founded intermediate holding Medienholding Süd GmbH (based in Stuttgart), a subsidiary of SWMH. At the same time, Richard Rebmann was appointed sole managing director of the new intermediate holding company of SWMH, the Stuttgarter Zeitung and the Stuttgarter Nachrichten as well as other companies on January 1, 2008. SWMH has been run as a dual leadership since 2012, with Rebmann as chairman of the management board.

In addition to his entrepreneurial activities, Rebmann was on the board of the Association of Printing and Media in Baden-Württemberg from 1990 to 1996 . Since 1993 he has been active in the Federal Association of German Newspaper Publishers (BDZV). From 1995 to 2012 he chaired the “Electronic Publishing / Multimedia Working Group” there. This resulted in the Congress Zeitung Digital , which has been established for 17 years and is organized by the BDZV and WAN-IFRA. In 1998 Rebmann also became BDZV Vice President. In addition, he has held numerous board and supervisory board mandates at various daily newspaper publishers and has been a member of the Rotary Club Freundestadt since 1994.

Rebmann is married and has two children (* 1993, 1995).
