Richard Sallaba (born November 23, 1905 in Vienna ; † May 2, 1956 ibid) was an Austrian actor and opera and operetta singer ( tenor ).

Life

After the Matura ( Abitur ) Sallaba attended the Vienna Academy of Music , where he at Rudolf Beer drama studied and took her by Zdenko Kestranek elocution lessons. From 1927 to 1931 as an actor at the Vienna Volkstheater , he then decided on a career as a singer. He toured the Netherlands , Belgium and West Germany with an operetta group , worked in Solothurn from 1933 to 1934 and in Bern from 1934 to 1935 . From 1936 to 1945 he was a member of the Vienna State Opera and in 1946 at the Vienna Volksoper . Above all, he was successful in the buffet , sang operetta roles at the Berlin Metropolitan Theater from 1941–1942 , worked at the Salzburg Festival (among other things, he was seen in Fidelio in 1938 ) and was also active as a singing teacher.

His final resting place is in the Döblinger Friedhof (I1-5-6) in Vienna.
