Richard Thiele

Richard Thiele (born December 30, 1846 in Schwenda , Harz, † August 11, 1907 in Erfurt ) was a German educator and local researcher.

Life

Richard Thiele studied classical studies and German studies . After graduating as Dr. phil. In 1869 at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg , he began a teaching career. He was a teacher at the Franck Foundation in Halle, then in Wesel and acting headmaster in Bochum. From October 1, 1879 to Easter 1884, he headed the Leopoldinum grammar school in Detmold, and then took over the management of the royal grammar school in Ratibor. From 1892 until his death he worked at the Royal High School in Erfurt , from 1893 as headmaster.

Thiele's most important scientific achievement is the edition of the chronicle of the Erfurt clergyman Konrad Stolle, written at the end of the 15th century . He also wrote several Latin school books. He was a member of several specialist organizations and was, among other things, Vice President of the Academy of Charitable Sciences in Erfurt .

Furthermore, in 1886 he composed the march “Our Navy”.
