Richard Thomas Guilfoyle (born December 22, 1892 in Adrian , Pennsylvania , USA , † June 10, 1957 in Altoona , Pennsylvania) was Bishop of Altoona .

Life

Richard Thomas Guilfoyle studied at St. Bonaventure College in Olean , New York and received on 2 June 1917, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On August 8, 1936, Pope Pius XI appointed him . to the Bishop of Altoona. The Bishop of Erie , John Mark Gannon , gave him on 30 November of the same year, the episcopal ordination ; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Newark , Thomas Joseph Walsh , and the Bishop of Concordia, Kansas , Francis Joseph Tief .

He died on June 10, 1957 at Mercy Hospital in Altoona. He was buried in the crypt of the Cathedral of Altoona.

The Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School in Altoona is named after him.
