Richard Wernecke

Richard Wernecke (born September 17, 1881 in Magdeburg ; died October 17, 1934 in Trier ) was a dressmaker , social democratic party and workers' sports functionary .

Life

Richard Wernecke was born in Magdeburg. In Trier he was active in the SPD and in the workers' welfare. Wernecke was a member of the board of the SPD local association St. Matthias-Medard-Feyen and 1929 and 1930 chairman of the local association of the SPD in Trier. He was a member of the press commission of the social democratic daily Volkswacht .

In 1926 he was the founder of the "Free Sports Association" Trier and thus the Trier workers 'sports cartel , which was a member of the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association . Wernercke was also a leader in the Friends of Nature in Trier. In 1929 he was elected chairman of the workers' sports cartel in his hometown. From 1932 to 1933 he was 2nd chairman of the Reich Association of War Disabled, War Participants and War victims in Trier.

His election as a delegate to the international congress of anti-fascist action in Amsterdam from August 27 to 29, 1932 led to his expulsion from the SPD.

Richard Wernecke died in Trier on October 17, 1934.
