The Amertaler Höhe ( 2841  m above sea level ), historically also Amathaler Landegghöhe , is a mountain peak in the Tauern main ridge of the Granatspitz group in the north of East Tyrol (municipality of Matrei in Osttirol ) on the border with Salzburg (municipality of Mittersill ). The first ascent took place on July 10, 1908 by H. Donaubaum with F. Maier over the north-east climb.

location

The Amertaler Höhe is a peak in the northern central area of the Granatspitz group. It is located on the Tauern main ridge on the state border with Salzburg . It is separated from the Riegelkopf ( 2920  m above sea level ) in the northwest by the Donaubaumschartl ( 2732  m above sea level ) and from the Großer Landeggkopf ( 2900  m above sea level ) by the Amertaler Scharte ( 2718  m above sea level ) . Southeast of the Amertaler Höhe lies the Sillingkopf ( 2,858  m above sea level ), separated by the saddle of the Sillingscharte ( 2784  m above sea level ), which rises above the Daberkees just like the Amertaler Höhe .

Promotion opportunities

The ascent to the Amertaler Höhe can be made from the Donaubaumschartl or the Amertaler Scharte, both of which can be reached on the valley side from the Matreier Tauernhaus ( Tauerntal ) or Gasthaus Taimeralm ( Amertal ) or from the Sankt Pöltner Hütte in the northwest or the Rudolfshütte in the east. The normal ascent takes place from the Donaubaumschartl via the southern ascent, where you cross the Daberkees from the saddle and reach the summit over some rocks under the west ridge ( UIAA I ). The southern ascent was first used on July 10, 1908 by H. Donaubaum and F. Maier for the descent from the Amertaler Höhe. From the Amertaler Scharte, the ascent is also possible via the north face, which W. Brandenstein climbed for the first time on August 23, 1927, whereby the ascent takes place through a brittle gorge on the right side of the wall and via the west ridge ( UIAA II ).

If you climb out of the Amertaler Scharte, you also have two options. On the north-east ascent, the path leads from the saddle to the upswing of the north-east ridge and on the left flank to the top ridge. Near the summit you cross some rock towers through a natural tunnel to the right side of the ridge before you reach the summit ( UIAA II ). Another option from the Amtertaler Scharte is via the northeast ridge, whereby the ascent from the upswing of the northeast ridge is first directly along the edge and then up to the left to the ridge shoulder and then over the horn-like pre-summit ( UIAA III ). This variant was first used on July 19, 1931 by R. Klose and F. Liederer.

Furthermore, the Amertaler Höhe can be reached, for example, when crossing the ridge of the Sillingkopf from the firn saddle of the Sillingscharte ( UIAA II ).
