The Sillingkopf (also the Silling ) is 2858 m above sea level. A. high mountain peaks in the Tauern main ridge (Glockenkogel ridge) of the Granatspitz group in the north of East Tyrol (municipality of Matrei in East Tyrol ). The first known ascent took place on July 19, 1926 by Wilhelm Brandenstein while crossing the entire Glockenkogel ridge.

The Sillingkopf is a peak in the north central area of the Granatspitzgruppe. It is located on the Tauern main ridge a little south of the state border with Salzburg . It is from the Glockenkogel ( 2828 m above sea level ) in the southwest through the Glockenkogelscharte ( 2720 m above sea level ) and from the Amertaler Höhe ( 2841 m above sea level ) through the firn saddle of the Sillingscharte ( 2784 m above sea level). ) separate separated. Like the neighboring Amertaler Höhe, the Sillinkopf rises above the Daberkees .
Promotion opportunities
The normal route to the Sillingkopf runs over the north ascent from the Sillingscharte. To do this, the Donaubaumschartl ( 2732 m above sea level ) on the valley side from the Matreier Tauernhaus ( Tauerntal ) or Gasthaus Taimeralm ( Amertal ) or from the Sankt Pöltner Hütte in the north-west or the Rudolfshütte in the east must be walked. From the Donaubaumschartl you cross the Daberkees to the nearby Sillingscharte, from where the final ascent to the summit takes place ( UIAA I ). The south-west ridge is another way to climb, which W. Brandenstein first attempted to descend from the Sillingkopf when crossing the ridge. The ascent over the southwest ridge starts in the Glockenkogelscharte ( UIAA II ).
