Ried is a hamlet in the valley floor of the Muotatals on the Muota and belongs to the municipality of Muotathal in the canton of Schwyz , Switzerland . The place is on the road from Schwyz to Muotathal.
In 1860, Ried had 153 inhabitants and grew to 570 by 2000.
The Catholic Church of John the Baptist is in Ried . The place also has a school building and a restaurant. At the eastern edge of the village is the 160 meter high Bettbachfall of the Bettbach coming from Illgau .
Transport links
Main road 387 leads through the village . The bus line 1 (network plan No. 60.501) of Auto AG Schwyz from Arth-Goldau via Lauerz and Schwyz to Muotathal has several stops in town. The Illgau – Ried aerial cableway leads to Illgau or offers a connection from Illgau to the 60.501 bus.
