The Riederstein is a 1207 m high mountain in the Bavarian Prealps just under two kilometers east and 481 meters above the Tegernsee . The mountain lies within the boundaries of the urban area of Tegernsee .

Despite the low altitude compared to the surrounding mountains, the Riederstein is a frequently visited destination due to its shape as a rock thorn visible from afar and the Riederstein chapel on it .

The easiest way to get to Riederstein is from Tegernsee via forest paths to Galaun and then in a crossroad. There are transition options to Baumgartenschneid .
