Location of Riedheim in Baden-Württemberg

Riedheim is a district of the Hilzingen community in Baden-Württemberg .

Geographical location

Riedheim is in the Hegau . The federal road 314 leads directly past Riedheim . The place borders in the west on Schlatt am Randen , in the northwest on Binningen and in the east on the main town Hilzingen . The Swiss border runs southwest with the town of Barzheim on the other side.

history

A noble family named Ritheim is already documented in a document from 1091 , although it is not clear whether the name refers to today's Riedheim. The first secured document comes from the year 1251. In the 13th century the castle Riedheim was built above the place.

The Catholic Church of St. Laurentius in the center of the village is documented for the first time in 1463, although there must have been a chapel in the village beforehand.

Riedheim shares the changeful political affiliation with the main town Hilzingen. Initially belonging to Upper Austria , the place came to the Petershausen Monastery in 1735 . With the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss 1803 Riedheim came to the Grand Duchy of Baden. After the Second World War, Riedheim became part of the newly founded state of Baden-Württemberg. On July 1, 1974, Riedheim was incorporated into the Hilzingen community.

coat of arms

Blazon: In silver on a green three-mountain, a tree with a black trunk, green crown and red fruits.

The coat of arms was approved in 1905, but its origin is older. The seal at that time still showed a deciduous tree and was therefore identical to the seal of the neighboring municipality of Hilzingen, only on the proposal of the General State Archives in 1902 was the apple tree in the coat of arms to better differentiate it, which was then approved in this form by the municipal council.

Economy and Infrastructure

Today, Riedheim is primarily a residential location for commuters to Switzerland. Agriculture only has a relatively minor role to play in the economic importance of the place.

There is a kindergarten and a primary school in Riedheim.
