Schlatt am Randen is a district of the Hilzingen community in Baden-Württemberg .
Geographical location
Schlatt am Randen is located on a northern slope of the Hegau immediately before the Randen mountain range . Schlatt am Randen borders on the German side in the north on Büßlingen and Binningen and in the east on Riedheim . On the Swiss side are the localities of Bibern SH , Thayngen and Barzheim .
history
Schlatt am Randen is mentioned for the first time in a document from the Petershausen Monastery from 983. In 1579, Schlatt am Randen fell back into the possession of the Lords of Fürstenberg , who gave the village away in 1590, which ultimately made it the property of the Counts of Tannenberg. In 1749 Joseph Wilhelm Ernst zu Fürstenberg-Stühlingen bought the village back in favor of the Principality of Fürstenberg and remained in the possession of the village until 1806. Schlatt am Randen then came to Württemberg, which handed the area over to Baden in 1810.
On July 1, 1971, Schlatt am Randen was incorporated into the Hilzingen community.
coat of arms
The coat of arms of Schlatt am Randen was approved in 1902. The vine comes from the community seals from earlier times, while the cloud border comes from the Fürstenberg coat of arms and reminds of the former affiliation of the place. The coat of arms was corrected on July 16, 1960 by decree of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior in order to adapt it to current heraldic practices.
