The Riemenstaldnerbach or Riemenstalderbach is an approximately 8 km long right tributary of the Reuss , which rises in the canton of Schwyz and flows into the Urnersee near Sisikon in the canton of Uri .

course

The stream rises at the Höchi pass crossing between the Riemenstaldnertal and the Bürgelibach valley in the Muotatal between the mountain ranges of the Chaiserstock in the south and the Sisiger Spitz in the north. The source area of the brook is in the area of the municipality of Muotathal , which the brook leaves after a short path, whereupon it flows westwards through the narrow valley of Riemenstalden, past numerous hamlets and through small forest areas. From the village of Stafel , the canton border between Schwyz and Uri runs in the brook, which was therefore also called Scheidbach in the past . About one kilometer before it flows into Lake Uri, the canton border moves away from the stream to the northwest and bypasses the Sisikon settlement .

The Riemenstaldnerbach takes in only a few side streams in the narrow valley, especially the Alpler Bach , which flows into the valley from Alp Äbnet, high on the southern flank of the valley, northeast of the Rophaien near the Alplersee .

Natural hazards

The Riemstaldnerbach repeatedly carries powerful floods and causes debris flows . That is why the canton of Uri has carried out various stream construction works above the Sisikon settlement, which is located on the alluvial cone of the stream . The municipality of Riemenstalden has set up a special Riemenstalderbach commission.
