The Rifugio Cà d'Asti is a managed refuge in the Graian Alps in the northern Italian metropolitan city of Turin / Piedmont region .

Located at 2854  m above the Susa valley, the hut operated by the diocese of Susa serves pilgrims and hikers as a starting point for the ascent of the Rocciamelone , the highest pilgrimage site in the Alps .

history

After Bonifacio Rotario d'Asti had already successfully climbed the Rocciamelone for the first time in 1358 , more and more pilgrims followed his path to make a pilgrimage to the Madonna triptych that he had left on the summit. On the plateau on which the refuge stands today, the first hut, which was still wooden at the time, was built in 1419. In honor of the first climber, the hut is still called Cà d'Asti, the Astis house. The present hut was built in 1974.
