The hut, which is usually open from mid-June to the end of September and, if the weather conditions are suitable, on the weekends of the rest of the year, has 20 beds. In the neighboring Bivacco Contin, 8 beds are available as a winter room.
location
The cabin is located in the municipality of Calalzo di Cadore in the Cadorischen Dolomites on the southern edge of Marmarole slightly below the summit of the Col Negro in Val d'soldering at 1911 m slm at the refuge leads the Dolomite mountain trail no. 5 over.
history
The refuge built by the CAI Venice Section was opened in June 1926. It was named after Giovanni Chiggiato , President of the Section and Member of the Camera dei deputati , who died in a car accident in 1923 , and whose family supported the construction financially. It was later named after the alpinist and son of Giovanni Chiggiato, Dino Chiggiato. In 1986 the Contin bivouac, carved into the rock, was built just a few meters from the Rifugio. In 2000 the Rifugio Chiggiato was modernized.
