The Rifugio Fratelli Grego (formerly Rifugio Atillio Grego ) is a refuge north of the Montasio group ( Julian Alps ) on the Sella di Somdogna mountain pass at 1395  m slm in the municipality of Dogna ( Friuli-Venezia Giulia region ). The refuge was built by the Trieste section of the CAI in stone and wood construction and named after the brothers Attilio, Ferruccio, Paolo and Remigio Grego Fratelli-Grego-Hütte.

history

The hut was opened on July 12, 1927. It was named Rifugio Atillio Grego after a section member who died in 1925 and quickly became a magnet for many tourists and alpinists. After a short time it turned out to be too small; it was renovated and reopened on July 9, 1933. On July 1st, 1956, a large marble plaque was placed near the refuge to commemorate the refuge huts of the Fiume, Gorizia and Trieste sections lost in the last war. In 1966 the hut was given its current name.
