The Rifugio Vittorio Sella (Italian) or Refuge Vittorio Sella (French) ( 2585  m slm ), also Rifugio Sella al Lauson (Italian) or Refuge Sella au Lauson (French), is a refuge in the summer months Graian Alps of the northern Italian autonomous region of Aosta Valley .

The refuge of the Club Alpino Italiano (CAI) belongs to the municipality of Cogne in the valley of the same name in the Gran Paradiso National Park .

history

One of the buildings in the refuge was built as a hunting lodge for King Victor Emmanuel II of Italy , and was later rebuilt and expanded. The refuge is named after Vittorio Sella , alpinist (first winter crossing of the Matterhorn , first winter ascent of the Dufourspitze ), researcher and founder of Italian mountain photography .
