Life

Rik De Lisle was born in Milwaukee in 1947 as the son of German and French emigrants. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the army. There he became a disc jockey for the soldier channel AFN for Asia, Portugal and the Federal Republic of Germany. His first radio station was KTFM in San Antonio , Texas . In 1978 he was transferred to West Berlin and moderated the early radio program there. He became known with his wake-up saying "I'm Air Force Sergeant Rik de Lisle - reminding you, that Rock'n Roll is just a state of mind".

In 1984 he switched to RIAS 2 . With his active help, this station was expanded into an all-day music station from 1985. De Lisle also moderated the early program at RIAS 2. There his heavy American accent and pun were his trademarks. In the morning at 5 o'clock - the program was called “Frühstart” - he woke his audience with the slogan “And now the Dr. Carpenter with the yellow little rubber duck. It is five o'clock ”. Typical announcement was "Hi, icke bin's, old American Rik De Lisle".

When Rias 2 was converted into the private radio rs2 in 1992 , De Lisle got the post of program director and helped to increase the number of listeners significantly.
