Rinaldo Piscicello
Rinaldo Piscicello (* between July 5, 1414 and July 4, 1415 in Naples , † July 4, 1457 in Rome ) was Archbishop of Naples and cardinal .
Life
He was the son of Nicola Piscicello and his wife Maria d'Alagni. Rinaldo Piscicello was related to Lucrezia d'Alagni, the mistress of King Alfonso I of Naples , who promoted his advancement. He became prebender and canon of the Metropolitan Chapter of Naples, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Naples and Apostolic Protonotary . In 1440 Alfonso I of Naples proposed it to Pope Eugene IV for the bishopric of Catanzaro . Nicholas V appointed him Archbishop of Naples on May 12, 1451. During his tenure, Rinaldo Piscicello had the cathedral of Naples rebuilt, which was badly damaged in the earthquakes of December 5 and 30, 1456, which killed around 40,000 people.
Pope Calixt III. created him in the consistory of December 17, 1456 as cardinal priest . Rinaldo Piscicello received the red hat and the titular church of Santa Cecilia on March 21, 1457.
He died in Rome at the age of 42. His body was transferred to Naples and buried there near the main altar of the cathedral.
