Giacomo Tebaldi

Giacomo Tebaldi (also Giacomo Teobaldi ; * in Rome ; † September 4, 1466 ibid) was Archbishop of Naples and cardinal .

Life

He was the son of Marco and Ventura Tebaldi, his brother was the personal physician of Pope Calixt III. Giacomo Tebaldi was a doctor of secular law. He received the ordination as subdeacon and was elected as such on June 5, 1450 to the Bishop of Montefeltro . Teobaldi was governor of Perugia and from September 1455 to November 1456 governor of Spoleto. On August 3, 1456 he was appointed Archbishop of Naples, but gave up this office three months later, in November 1456.

Calixt III. created him in the consistory of December 17, 1456 as cardinal priest . On January 12, 1457 he received the red hat and on January 24 of the same year Sant'Anastasia as the titular church . In 1458 he was treasurer of the Holy College of Cardinals . He took part in the 1458 conclave that Pope Pius II elected. He also took part in the 1464 conclave , from which Paul II emerged as pope.

1465 is sometimes mentioned as the year of death, but according to the most important sources he died on September 4, 1466 around 4 p.m. He was buried in the Roman church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva , his grave monument was created in 1466 by the sculptors Andrea Bregno and Giovanni Dalmata .
