Ringu Tulku ( Tib . : ri mgul sprul sku ; * 1952 in Kham ) is a Tibetan lama and scholar .

Life

Ringu Tulku Rinpoche is a monk and Buddhist scholar of all four great Tibetan Buddhist schools of Vajrayana , particularly in the Tibetan Mahamudra and Dzogchen teachings.

Ringu Tulku Rinpoche was born in Kham in 1952. Between 1957 and 1959 he and his family fled to India from the People's Liberation Army . Since then he has lived in Sikkim .

He was recognized as the tulku of the abbot of Rigul Monastery and raised accordingly from early childhood. Ringu Tulku received extensive training from many great masters from all schools of Tibetan Buddhism. His main teachers were the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa and Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche .

In addition, Ringu Tulku Rinpoche also completed an academic degree. He studied at the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology in Gangtok and the Sampurnananda Sanskrit University in Varanasi , India, where he received an Acharya degree . For his extensive work on Jamgön Kongtrül Lodrö Thaye and the Rime movement, the International Nyingma Society founded by Dudjom Rinpoche awarded him the title of Lopon Chenpo , which corresponds to a doctorate.

Ringu Tulku Rinpoche has studied and practiced all four main branches of Tibetan Buddhism. He was a professor of Tibetology and Buddhism in Gangtok for 17 years.

Since 1990 he has regularly visited numerous Buddhist centers in Europe , the United States , Canada , Australia and Asia . A special concern of Ringu Tulku Rinpoche is the interreligious dialogue in order to contribute to understanding, tolerance and peace in the world. He is the founder of the Bodhicharya Organization (see also Bodhicharyavatara ).
