The Rispige knapweed ( Centaurea paniculata ) is a plant that the plant genus of knapweed ( Centaurea ) in the subfamily of Carduoideae within the family of Compositae part (Asteraceae).
description
Vegetative characteristics
Rispige knapweed grows as a biennial herbaceous plant and reaches heights of 20 to 60 centimeters. It has a white felt persistence.
Generative characteristics
The flowering time is in summer. The shells of the small flower heads are 0.8 to 1 cm long and 0.5 to 0.7 cm thick. On the bracts there are appendages with three to five light brown fringes and prickly upper ends.
Chromosome number
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18.
ecology
The caterpillars of the butterflies Jordanita budensis , Jordanita hispanica and Jordanita chloros develop on the panicle .
Locations in Switzerland
Rispige knapweed thrives best on sandy, loose soils in warm locations in the colline altitude . It grows on roadsides and on rubble sites.
Systematics and distribution
Centaurea paniculata was first published by Carl von Linné .
Rispige knapweed occurs in south-western Europe mainly in Spain , Italy and southern France . In Central Europe it occurs as an unstable neophyte .
Of Centaurea paniculata there depending on the author as subspecies:
- Centaurea paniculata L. subsp. paniculata : It is native to Spain, France and Italy.
- Centaurea paniculata subsp. cossoniana (Arènes) Dostál : It occurs in Spain.
- Centaurea paniculata subsp. esterellensis (Briq.) Dostál : It occurs in France.
- Centaurea paniculata subsp. polycephala (Jord.) Nyman : It occurs in France.
- Centaurea paniculata subsp. rigidula (Jord.) Dostál : It occurs in France.
Common names
The other common German names for Rispige knapweed also existed : Dickkopp ( Altmark ), Knopfwurz ( Silesia ) and Stöbenkraut. Despite similar common names, the panicle knapweed is not identical to the panicle knapweed ( Centaurea stoebe ).
