Rita in Alton Towers ( Alton , Staffordshire , UK ) is a steel roller coaster from the model Accelerator Coaster the manufacturer Intamin , on 1 April 2005 as Rita - Queen of Speed was opened. Since 2010 she has only operated under the name Rita .

It is located in the Ug Land themed area of the park and accelerates the trains from 0 to 98 km / h in 2.5 seconds. The ride is based on drag racing , although the topic is themed more on the Stone Age .

The drive

The journey begins when the train rolls out of the station and a male voice says the following sentence: Keep your heads back and hold on tight, you must escape! … Go go GO !!! (Eng .: put your heads back and hold on tight, you have to flee! ... go go go! ). The train accelerates from 0 to 98 km / h in 2.5 seconds and traverses high-speed curves and airtime hills before reaching the braking section, which is parallel to the station. The layout is almost identical to Desert Race in the German Heidepark and to Formula Rossa in Ferrari World in the United Arab Emirates, although the latter has significantly larger curve radii and a mirrored layout due to the high speed. Rita often received bad reviews for queues that were too long and driving times too short.

Trains

Rita's trains have five cars each. Four people (two rows of two people) can be seated in each car. Shoulder straps are used as a restraint system.

Trivia
