The column belongs to the river system of the Weser . With a length of about 18.5 km it flows exclusively in the district of Diepholz ( Lower Saxony ).

It rises north of Scholen , then flows in a southerly direction through the places Samtgemeinde Schwaförden , Sulingen , Samtgemeinde Kirchdorf and flows into the Große Aue at Barenburg .
