Rita Rockt is an American sitcom that premiered on October 20, 2008 on Lifetime . The German premiere was on October 29, 2010 on VOX in the night program between 4 and 6 o'clock. Since April 2011, the series has also been broadcast on ORF one . Due to a lack of ratings, production of the series was discontinued after two seasons.

In addition to being a busy Detroit mom and wife, Rita also works part-time in a job she doesn't particularly enjoy. After finding her old guitar in the garage, she decides to start a garage band with her neighbor Owen, the postman Patty and her daughter's friend Kip. But that means even more stress! Rita tries to get her job and family under one roof and slips from one chaos to the next.

  • Rita Clemens ( Nicole Sullivan ): Rita Clemens is a hard working mother and in the middle of a midlife crisis. Even if she would never admit it herself. She is the leader of her garage band and also Assistant Manager of Bed Bath & Max.
  • Jay Clemens ( Richard Ruccolo ): Jay is Rita's husband and he does his best to support Rita and her band. Just like Rita, he stumbles from one faux pas to the next.
  • Patty Mannix ( Tisha Campbell-Martin ): Patty works for the Post and is Rita's best friend. She got Rita to play the guitar again, which eventually led to the formation of the band.
  • Hallie Clemens ( Natalie Dreyfuss ): Rita's absent-minded and rebelling daughter. She also works at Bed Bath & Max and is constantly texting her cell phone.
  • Shannon Clemens ( Kelly Gould ): Rita's nine year old daughter. She goes to a school for gifted children and dreams of space camps and of becoming an astronaut.
  • Kip ( Ricky Ullman ): His real name is Skip; He is Hallie's boyfriend and drummer in Rita's band. His parents live separately
  • Max : Rita & Jay's new baby. He comes in the Season 2 finale, "Born In The USA". to the world.

  • Owen Delgado Jr. ( Ian Gomez ): Owen is Rita's neighbor and works as a bass player in her garage band.
  • Audrey ( Lauren Bowles ): Owen's wife and mother of two children. She loves her job more than her husband.

  • Marilyn ( Swoosie Kurtz ): Rita's mother who comes to visit in four episodes.
