history

The complex of the Weischütz manor was built in the Middle Ages and was at times divided into an upper and a lower part. The successes of ownership can be traced back to the 14th century on the basis of the feudal letters of the Landgraves of Thuringia . The estate was initially owned by the von Kannewurff family on Weissensee . From 1365 to 1468 the manor belonged to the von Rockhausen family on Kirchscheidungen and then came into the possession of the von Thüna (1468 to 1630). In 1630 it was briefly jointly owned by Hans Georg von Osterhausen and Georg von Nißmitz. In the same year, the latter bought the other half of the estate for 7,000 guilders from the three heirs of Hans Georg von Osterhausen, so that he became the sole owner.

Other owner families were von Oelschnitz (1701–1702), von Bünau (1702–1763), von Wilcke (1763–1796), Leyser (1796–1823), Schröder (from 1823) and most recently von Streit.
