Ritual is a Swedish rock band.

history

Lundström, Lindqvist and Nordgren founded a band called Bröd in the fall of 1988, with whom they wanted to make experimental and multimedia rock music. After a few demos and performances, the project was ended in 1992. The three musicians continued to work together and founded Gamble Ritual in 1993 with Jon.

In the first few years, Rituals were not very active, as Lundström was in great demand as a musical performer . In 1995 the band signed a contract with Musea and recorded their debut album Ritual , which was very well received by the press. A European tour followed in the summer of 1996.

Until the end of 1997, the band members went back to other projects, Lundström z. B. took part in the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest for Sweden with the boy band Blond . The work on the second album took a long time, so that Superb Birth was n't finished until 1999. A third album was planned from 2001, recording and publication dragged on again, as the band members founded families. Lundström also played the album Notes from the Past with Kaipa .

After Think Like a Mountain was released in 2003, Ritual went on tour with RPWL . In summer they also performed at the Burg Herzberg Festival . In 2004 further live performances followed, including a. with The Flower Kings and anecdotes . A live album has now been put together from various recordings, it was released as a double CD in January 2006. In the same year, the band began work on a new studio album. The Hemulic Voluntary Band was released in 2007, and another tour followed. Since 2009 Ritual have been planning a fifth studio album.

style

Ritual's music is generally classified as progressive rock because it combines rock music in an original way with influences from heavy metal , folk and pop music . Her compositions are catchy, varied and easy to play.
