history

The origins of Baloncesto Rivas go back to 1993, when the women's basketball section of the CD Covibar sports club from Rivas-Vaciamadrid was founded. In 1998 the team started in the Segunda División Nacional , which was then the third division. In the first season, the club was able to take first place and thus rose to the second division.

In the 2002/03 season, they were promoted to the first division, the Liga Femenina , but the following year the team only reached 14th place and thus rose again. In the 2005/06 season, the club returned to the first division, from which they have not been relegated so far. The club quickly established itself in the top field of Spanish women's basketball and competed in an international competition for the first time, the EuroCup Women , in the 2008/09 season . With third place in the league, the team qualified for participation in the Euroleague Women 2009/10.

In the summer of 2010, Baloncesto Rivas split from CD Covibar and registered as an independent club, in the following season the club won their first title, in the final of the Spanish Cup Rivas surprisingly beat Ros Casares Valencia with 63:59 . Internationally, the club attracted attention when the team reached the final of the EuroLeague in the 2011/12 season, but failed there in a purely Spanish final with 52:65 to Ros Casares. In the following year, the Madrileans won the Spanish Cup for the second time, in the final they prevailed 83:62 against Perfumerías Avenida Baloncesto . The team also reached the final of the Spanish championship, but failed in the playoff there with 0-2 to Perfumerías Avenida. The duels between the two clubs continued in the 2013/14 season, Rivas lost in the cup 67:69, but in the championship he won the title for the first time with a 2-0 final play-off.
