Rivière Toulnustouc is a 253 km long left tributary of the Rivière Manicouagan in the administrative region of Côte-Nord in the Canadian province of Québec .
The river has its source 15 km east of the Manicouagan Reservoir . It flows south. He flows through the lake Lac Fortin . The river was dammed at the outflow from Lac Sainte-Anne by the construction of the Barrage du Lac-Sainte-Anne in 1958. Between 2003 and 2005, a new 77 m high dam, the Barrage de la Toulnustouc , was built about 12 km downstream . As a result, the valley below Lac Sainte-Anne was flooded and is now part of the reservoir. Further below is the associated storage power plant Centrale de la Toulnustouc (526 MW ), which is supplied with water from the dam via a 9.8 km long tunnel at a height difference of 152 m. About 45 km north-north-west of Baie-Comeau , the river finally flows into the Manicouagan River, which is dammed up to form Réservoir Manic 2 .
