Rivière au Phoque ("Phoque" is the French word for "dog seal" ) is a 103 km long river in the regional county town of Jamésie in the administrative region of North du Québec in the Canadian province of Québec .

It has its origin 15 km south of the lake Lac Burton . It flows in a predominantly westerly direction, with its middle course flowing through the lakes Lac Minahikuskakami , Lac Kapuskuchiskwaw , Lac Aupasich and Lac Ominuk . The river flows a few kilometers south of the headland Pointe Louis-XIV , which marks the southeast end of Hudson Bay , into James Bay .

In the late 1940s, a salmon fishing station was built at the mouth of the Rivière au Phoque, now known as the Seal River . The Cree delivered the caught salmon by boat to Fort George, today's Chisasibi . The seals were already part of the diet of the indigenous people in the area. The fur of the seals is still used today for tents, kayaks and whaling boats. Bearded seals and harbor seals of the subspecies Phoca vitulina concolor live in the vicinity of the river mouth.
