Johannes Cornelius "Rob" Bontje (born May 12, 1981 in Grevenbicht ) is a Dutch volleyball player .
Career
Bontje started his career in 1996 at VC Sittardia . In 2001 he moved to SSS Barneveld . In the 2003/04 season, the middle blocker played for the Dutch first division club VC Nesselande . He took part in the 2004 Olympic Games with the Dutch national team. At the tournament in Athens, the Dutch were eliminated from the group in fifth place after the preliminary round despite an opening victory against the eventual bronze medalist Russia . Bontje then moved to Italy, where he first played for Pallavolo Padua . He then had one season each with Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia and Marmi Lanza Verona before returning to Padua in 2007. In 2008/09 he played again in Verona. In 2009 he was signed by Sisley Treviso . With Treviso, Bontje won the CEV Cup in the final against the Polish team Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle in the 2010/11 season . Poland then became his new sporting home when he moved to Jastrzębski Węgiel . In 2013 and 2014, the team finished third in the Polish league. In the 2013/14 Champions League , Bontje was also third with Jastrzębski Węgiel. Then he moved to the German champion Berlin Recycling Volleys . After the 2014/15 season, Bontje is leaving the Berlin Recycling Volleys.
