Robert Anthony Borski Jr. (born October 20, 1948 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American politician . Between 1983 and 2003 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Robert Borski attended Frankford High School in Philadelphia until 1966 and then studied at the University of Baltimore in Maryland until 1971 . He later worked as a stockbroker. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1976 and 1982 he was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives .

In the 1982 congressional election , Borski was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the third constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Joseph Francis Smith on January 3, 1983 . After nine re-elections, he was able to complete ten legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 2003 . During this time, the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 and the beginning of the Iraq war took place . In 2002, Borski was one of 81 Democratic Congressmen who voted for the military operation in Iraq . In the same year he gave up another candidacy.

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Robert Borski founded the lobby company Borski Associates . In 2010, Politics Magazine named him one of the most influential Democratic politicians in Pennsylvania.
