Robert Bär (born September 20, 1964 in Bad Schlema ) is a German music teacher at the German School Helsinki and recipient of the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.

Life

Bär studied German language and literature and music education at the University of Education in Zwickau and graduated as a teacher in 1989 . He then taught for two years at the Ernst Schneller secondary school in Neukirchen / Pleiße before moving to the DSH as a local teacher for German and music in 1991 . Robert Baer completed his education between 1997 and 2006 at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where, in addition to his work as a teacher, he completed a Master of Music in Arts Management. As a meeting school, the school promotes cultural exchange between the two countries. In 1996, Bär became aware of the Jugend musiziert competition , which he has been organizing since then at the school and to an increasing extent as the main responsible and managing director for the area of German schools abroad in the region of Northern and Eastern Europe. He is also the representative of the schools abroad on the main committee of the competition. Up until his initiative, only 18 schools abroad from the Mediterranean were involved. For this purpose, he is occasionally seconded to schools abroad. In addition, he is available as a juror at local competitions. He also organizes concert tours for national award winners throughout Finland as part of the European Union of Music Competitions for Young People (EMCY). The enthusiasm he aroused in the students of his school for music, which is also reflected in the existence of over 30 student bands, is so lasting that the school founded its own music school in 2008. In 2013, the German School Helsinki won two first prizes and a third prize at the national youth music competition.

Awards

  • In 2000 he received the Finnish Ulla Aue Youth Prize for his intercultural commitment. The prize was endowed with 20,000 Finnmark. The award took place in November in the presence of the patron, the then Federal Minister of Justice Herta Däubler-Gmelin , and the then Finnish Minister of Justice Johannes Koskinen.
  • In 2014 Robert Bär was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon because he made outstanding contributions to Finnish-German relations with his great voluntary work at the German School Helsinki and in the “Jugend musiziert” competition . The award ceremony by the German Ambassador Thomas Götz took place with numerous guests on March 26, 2014.
