Robert C. Rore began with surrealistic motifs (from 1970) and, as the strokes became more relaxed, developed into series of colored pencil drawings, e.g. B. 1981 on HC Artmann's neo-baroque poetry cycles such as “Evanescence and Resurrection of Shepherd's Farm, XXV Epigrammata set in German Alexandrians”. The first pictures using the etching technique were created in small editions and then in 1985 the etching cycle “The Flight of Icarus” in the Rore combines neo-baroque fabulousness with surrealistic elements.

At the same time, a development began in 1985 to concentrate on still lifes , especially watercolors in hyperrealistic techniques . The reduction to what is depicted, mostly without accessories, combined with stupendous watercolor technique, left the initially rather too serious study impression of the pictures far behind. The Spanish baroque painter Juan Sánchez Cotán can be considered as an artistic role model.

While these works were shown successfully at many exhibitions early on, the cityscapes and portraits initially went unnoticed. From 1995 many city views of German cities were created, which were then sold as posters.

With the takeover of a large studio in Munich in 1995, RC Rore was able to turn to larger format etching. As a result, various series of erasers were created using an elaborate color technique from several plates. Then the first large-format paintings in oil on canvas. There are more and more images that deal with people, especially the portrayal of men. The style has once again changed to an impressionist style of painting and is reminiscent of the Spanish painter Joaquín Sorolla . Since Rore works a lot with models, he created a lot of portrait and nude drawings. In addition, a large number of drawings, especially with colored pencils.

In 2011/12 a multi-part polyptichon was created in two large (about 5 × 3 m) opposite hanging altar-like series of images on the subject of " Prometheus " for the entrance area of an office building in Augsburg. Ironically broken, the men appear here as heroes (Prometheus et Co ) circling around the one, only woman ( Pandora ).

Rore's portrayals of men are noticeable as they have few role models in art history and (in contrast to works such as Tom of Finland ) appear erotic but are never pornographic. In particular, Rore's colored pencil drawings of men are particularly attractive because of their intimacy and subtlety.

In 2007 he designed two panels for the integration maypole in Munich's Glockenbachviertel .

In 2012 he commented on his work in Meet the Artists.
