Robert Cecil, 2nd Baron Rockley

Robert William Evelyn Cecil, 2nd Baron Rockley ( February 28, 1901 - January 26, 1976 ) was a British manager , peer and politician .

Life

He was the son of Evelyn Cecil, 1st Baron Rockley , from his marriage to the Hon. Alicia Tyssen-Amherst, daughter of William Tyssen-Amherst, 1st Baron Amherst of Hackney .

He attended Eton College and studied at Christ Church College of Oxford University and at Yale University in the United States . He served as Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery in the British Army . During the Second World War he worked for the Ministry of Supply from 1939 to 1941 and for the British military government from 1944 to 1945 .

When his father died on April 1, 1941, he inherited his title of nobility as Baron Rockley and the associated seat in the House of Lords .

After the war, he worked as a manager at various companies including Schweppes , National Westminster Bank , Clerical Medical and Kleinwort Benson .

Marriage and offspring

On May 9, 1933, he married Anne Margaret Meade-Fetherstonhaugh (1912-1980), daughter of Admiral Sir Herbert Meade-Fetherstonhaugh (1875-1964). With her he had two sons and a daughter:

When he died in 1976, his older son James inherited his title of nobility.
