Robert Henry Schofield Coleman (born June 9, 1883 in Ballarat , Australia , † January 1, 1960 in Brentwood ) was a British sailor .

Robert Coleman, of the Royal Burnham Yacht Club sailed, was in 1920 in Antwerp at the Olympic Games in the 7-meter class Olympic champion . He was a crew member of the Ancora , whose crew also consisted of his sister-in-law Dorothy Wright and William Maddison , who had only one competitor with the Norwegian boat Fornebo from skipper Johan Faye . The Fornebo won the first race, but the Ancora with skipper Cyril Wright , Dorothy Wright's husband, won the second and third races and finished the regatta in first place.

Coleman, who fought on the French front in World War I , was married to Dorothy Wright's sister, Connie Machin. Their father Percy Machin owned the Ancora together with Cyril Wright . In April 1916 he was assigned to the 63rd Battalion of the Machine Gun Corps . On August 19, 1917, he was promoted to lieutenant . Two years later he received the Military Cross .
