Robert Craft
Robert Lawson Craft (born October 20, 1923 in Kingston , New York , † November 10, 2015 in Gulf Stream , Florida ) was an American conductor and musicologist .
Life
From 1948 and until his death, Craft was secretary and assistant to Igor Stravinsky , to whom he has dedicated numerous publications since the 1960s. He was considered a kind of " Eckermann " Stravinsky's.
Craft, who was interested and committed to the Second Viennese School at an early age - also towards his mentor, who was originally hostile to Arnold Schönberg - was considered a conductor as a specialist in classical modernism, but also recorded works by Gesualdo , Monteverdi and Johann Sebastian Bach .
