Robert Davidovici

Robert Davidovici (* 1946 ) is a Romanian violinist and music teacher.

Davidovici, who comes from Transylvania, took his first violin lessons from a student of David Oistrach and then studied at the Juilliard School with Ivan Gamalian . He won first prizes at the Naumburg International Violin Competition and the Carnegie Hall International American Music Violin Competition, among others . After teaching as an assistant at the Juilliard School, he became Artist in Residence and Professor of Violin at Florida International University . As a visiting professor he has taught at the Musashino Academia Musicae in Tokyo, the University of Washington , the University of British Columbia and the Australian National University .

As concertmaster, Davidovici has served with the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra , the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra , the Hague Resident Orchestra , the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra , the festival orchestras of the Grand Teton Music Festival , the Chautauqua Music Festival , the Colorado Music Festival and others. As a chamber musician, he has worked with colleagues such as Emanuel Ax , Yefim Bronfman , Lynn Harrell , Cho-Liang Lin , Yo-Yo Ma and Isaac Stern and has appeared in the American Music Masters series at Carnegie Hall . In 2013 he recorded the world premiere of Paul Kletzki's Violin Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under Grzegorz Nowak alongside Karol Szymanowski's Violin Concerto.
