Robert Delort

Robert Delort (born September 21, 1932 ) is a French historian who has dealt with economic history , the history of Venice , the Middle Ages and environmental history , as well as the history of the relationship between humans and animals, a branch of research that he calls "Zoohistoire" designated.

life and work

Delort received his doctorate from the Paris École normal supérieure (rue d'Ulm) in 1953. He received the Agrégation d'histoire in 1957 at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales , where he also submitted his dissertation (thèse) in 1960. He taught at the University of Hamburg , but also taught and served in the French Navy. He worked as a teacher at the Lycée de Douai , then as an assistant at the Sorbonne from 1963 to 1968.

Delort was a member of the École française de Rome from 1960–1962 and presented his thèse d'État in 1975 at the Sorbonne . He graduated from the Université Paris VII-Denis-Diderot with a license de sciences . He was appointed to the Université Paris VIII , then he went to the École normal supérieure , and finally to the University of Geneva , where he taught from 1986 to 1997. From 1983 to 1984 he was a fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin , worked in Montréal in 1987 and in London from 1993 to 1994. He also taught at Bielefeld University , as well as in Rome, Berlin and Moscow ( Lomonossow University ) in 2003.

Delort was President of the National Commission of the Center national de la recherche scientifique from 1983 to 1987 and headed the interdisciplinaire de recherches sur l'environnement program from 1987 to 1992, the interdisciplinary research program on the environment.
