Robert Faber (publisher, 1869)

Friedrich Gustav Robert Faber (born April 12, 1869 in Magdeburg ; † October 18, 1924 there ) was a German publisher .

The son of the publisher and printer's owner Alexander Faber attended the Magdeburg Domgymnasium and the Ludwig-Georgs-Gymnasium in Darmstadt and then studied law and political science in Freiburg, Bonn and Cologne. During his studies he became a member of the Bonn fraternity of Frankonia in the winter semester of 1890/91 . In 1893 he obtained his doctorate in law in Leipzig and, after a long stay in England, joined his father's business in 1894. Two years later he received power of attorney , in 1902 he took over the management of the Magdeburgische Zeitung and, after the death of his father in 1908, also that of the traditional book publisher.

From 1911 to 1921 Faber was also chairman of the Association of German Newspaper Publishers (VDZV), a forerunner of today's Federal Association of German Newspaper Publishers .
