Robert Jarjis

Robert Jarjis (born October 23, 1973 in Baghdad , Iraq ) is an Iraqi clergyman and appointed auxiliary bishop in the Chaldean Catholic Patriarchate of Babylon .

Life

Robert Jarjis graduated from Baghdad University with a licentiate and a master's degree in veterinary medicine . He then entered the Baghdad Seminary and studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at Babel College . Jarjis later continued his studies in Rome at the Pontifical Urban University. In 2001 Robert Jarjis obtained a licentiate in Biblical Theology at the Pontifical Biblical Institute . He received on April 27, 2008 in Rome through Pope Benedict XVI. the Sacrament of ordination .

Jarjis then returned to Baghdad and was pastor in the al-Mansur district for seven years . He then became pastor of the Chaldean Catholic Cathedral in Baghdad and employee of the Apostolic Nunciature in Iraq.

The Synod of Bishops of Chaldean Catholic Bishops elected him auxiliary bishop in the Patriarchate of Babylon. Pope Francis confirmed his election as auxiliary bishop in the Patriarchate of Babylon on December 22, 2018, and appointed him titular bishop of Arsamosata . The Patriarch of Babylon, Louis Raphaël I Cardinal Sako , consecrated him as bishop on January 18 of the following year. Co- consecrators were the Chaldean Archbishop of Diyarbakır , Ramzi Garmou , and the Bishop of the Chaldean Catholic Eparchy Mar Addai of Toronto , Bawai Soro .
